Good Shepherd Foundation

Mission of the Foundation

The Good Shepherd Foundation is organized and operated exclusively for charitable, religious, and educational purposes, specifically to support and benefit the Good Shepherd Evangelical Lutheran Church, the community, the ELCA and other institutions and agencies as defined in the Foundation Operating Guidelines.

The Foundation provides support and benefit, principally in the form of financial assistance, for charitable and other related tax-exempt purposes. The Foundation is one way that members and friends of GSLC can make a lasting impact on the growth of the kingdom of God in our community and world.

Good Shepherd Lutheran Church Foundation Supports Local Services

In 2024, the GSLC Foundation granted a total of $61,490 across 22 recipients. Notable beneficiaries included Camp Cole Foundation, NovusWay Ministries, Senior Resources Inc. and Global Health Ministry.

  • The Camp Cole Foundation was awarded $2,750 to sponsor military children with special needs to attend a camp. Camp Cole is a camp and retreat center in Eastover, S.C. designed from the heart for children, teens and adults with illnesses, disabilities, and life challenges.
  • The NovusWay Ministries received $6,000 for hurricane recovery efforts at Lutheridge and for scholarships for those affected by hurricanes Helene and Milton. NovusWay, a ministry of the ELCA, provides experiences for all people in God’s creation that inspire faith, build relationships, and transforms lives in an outdoor ministry setting. Lutheridge is where the GSLC congregational retreat is held each year.
  • Senior Resources Inc. secured $3,000 for Meals on Wheels, providing home-delivered meals to elderly, frail and homebound residents in Richland County, allowing those seniors to remain healthy, safe and living independently.
  • Global Health Ministry, an independent Lutheran non-profit, was gifted $3,000 for shipping over 4,000 healthcare kits to Tanzania.
